taday's update will be a shorter 1 than yesterday's.
went to school this morning and arrived late - as usual - but then again, there wasn't anyone of "big" status around =). so I ended up taking charge of the CCA for about an hour this morning in a rather loose manner. i was obviously happy when my sir arrived 'cos i really didn't know what to do. they were playing ice-breakers and i didn't get myself stuck in with the sec1s, which numbered about 28 out of around 80 who signed up on the open house. i would say that number easily beats all our previous open house day results for like the past few years hands down and i'm happy with that even though only like around 25% of the people who signed up actually turned up.
from my point of view, i would say it's rather hard to gauge whether the sec1s actually enjoyed themselves but that may be because i was tired and didn't do much after sir arrived! i just hope that at least 28 will join us eventually because we really need the people. alanK was rather surprised when i told him we didn't have an interview process. we can't afford it you see given our small number.
had a really horrible afternoon just now.
i lost $1 to the stupid newspaper lady who insisted i had not paid her. i don't know if she was out to cheat me but i wasn't going to argue with her and just gave her another 60c for the newspaper. i then made alanK and me stand for a seat at Long John Silvers for a long time mainly because i didn't spot available seats on 3 occasions and they were taken by other people. we eventually left fed up and went to eat at some cafe. there i think i lost another $8 when i think i handed her a $10 note and she keyed in the cashier as a $2. I couldn't remember whether it was a $10 or $2 note but given my tiredness, i wasn't going to start an arguement and let it be. went home tired and half dead and slept until a few minutes ago. my luck didn't really improve as i tried some pinball on the computer and didn't really do well in it.
just read that singapore was unhappy with flippant comments by malaysia about going to war. oh PLEEEEASE stop it. there's always a bone to pick on and why do they never stop bickering! there's always something like train tracks, water, muslim people, land reclamation, some island that doesn't really have any importance to either country and whatever nonsense that we and malaysia cannot agree on. Obviously from Singapore's point of view Malaysia is in the wrong and from Malaysia's point of view Singapore are wrong. however, even a neutral would have felt that Malaysia are being rather unreasonable with public protests, condemnings from ministers and blown-up stories in newspapers. it's also obvious that they're using one of their physical advantages which is country size to attempt to spite us. words like dwarf and small dot and whatever acronym are being used by them, obviously to belittle us. they compete with us by setting up a port we don't do anything. but they even go and criticise us. that well, is plain unreasonable and i do hope that when they go to the International Court Of Justice to settle the Pedra Branca issue (which was the worthless island i was referring to) i hope that the people there will seriously listen to both sides and decide on the rightful winner. it malaysia wins, singapore should learn not to try and too big for its own good. if singapore wins, malaysia would be well, humiliated since they brought it up and that would be what they deserve.
why can't we stop arguing and cooperate on more serious issues like terrorism? why can't we settle these issues peacefully?
don't really feel like typing the usuals. vivian didn't look very happy today but then again, she's always been like that. she asked me about some people - meiyan and gana - meiyan i remember but gana i can't recall. maybe i have to look through the yearbooks again. you just have to move on once you lose touch with your friends. and i'm losing touch of some of them now.
